SAN MEI RETURNS FROM HIATUS + ANNOUNCEs NEW EP ‘REBLOOM’ AND SPELLBINDING LEAD SINGLE ‘FEVERDREAM’

FEVERDREAM

Australian indie darling San Mei returns to the spotlight, bringing with her a reimagined sonic identity, a sharpened perspective and a bold new creative chapter ready to unfold.

Her upcoming EP, Rebloom, captures this striking evolution. The record charts her transition from shadow-drenched indie rock into the hypnotic realm of mood pop. Leading this transformation is the captivating first single, ‘Feverdream’.

The track delivers a captivating blend of atmospheric electronica and dream pop, opening with an intimate whisper of ASMR-leaning vocals before gradually spiralling into a full-throttle psych-trance outro. She enlisted long term collaborator Michael McCartney (James Johnston, Darren Middleton, Hollow Coves) as co-producer and mixer along with Forrester Saville (Karnivool, Jacob Lee) on mastering.

While the sound explores new territory, the underlying DNA remains unmistakably San Mei. The opening single showcases her maturing songwriting, raw vulnerability and her immersive world-building as a sign of things to come.

“‘Feverdream’ captures that intoxicating, chaotic flashpoint of becoming completely consumed by a new connection,” San Mei explains. “It’s about a passion so intense and dizzying that the border between reality and illusion just dissolves. You realise you’re playing with fire, but instead of stepping back, you lean right into the heat.”

For listeners of Grimes, Purity Ring, The Horrors and Fazerdaze, Rebloom (due for release late 2026) signals the arrival of a seasoned artist stepping fearlessly into her next era.
